Devices, sign-in and admin

Ingle knows two kinds of device. Any other device (not a display, and not signed in) only sees the sign-in page: no board, names or photos.

Household displays, such as the wall iPad, show the board to everyone, and kids use them to claim and complete chores.

  • An adult unlocks admin on a display by tapping ⚙︎, then their picture, and entering their PIN.
  • Admin locks again after 2 idle minutes, or when you tap Lock. Change the time with Lock admin on displays after in Admin › Settings.
  • Five wrong PINs lock that person out for five minutes.
  • A display stays registered until it’s removed.

To make a device a display, tick the box during setup, or sign in on it and go to Admin › Devices › Make this a household display. You’re signed out there, and use your PIN for admin from then on. Remove a display from the same page.

Adults’ phones, laptops and desktops are personal devices. Sign in with your email and password to manage everything from anywhere.

  • You stay signed in until you’ve been inactive for 30 days.
  • Admin › Devices lists every signed-in phone and computer. Sign out ends one, and Sign me out everywhere else ends all but this one.
  • People: family members, with an emoji or photo, picture cards, a goal, PINs and sign-ins. See Getting started.
  • Chores: who does it, how often, and what it’s worth. See Adding chores.
  • Completions: approvals, reward claims, missed chores, and reversing mistakes.
  • Rewards: see Rewards.
  • Photos and Calendars for the screensaver and the calendar.
  • Devices: household displays and signed-in phones and computers.
  • Settings:
    • household name and timezone
    • when a new day starts on the board (until then it still shows yesterday, so late-night chores count for the right day)
    • admin auto-lock, the screensaver delay, and when the calendar returns to the chores
    • the lock schedule, idle lock and household unlock code

Every change appears in the activity feed on Admin home, which also shows the version of Ingle that’s running.
